German Cockroach

German cockroaches will always be found in large numbers and are usually are smaller type of roach. German cockroaches are usually found between 12-15mm long and they usually fit into the smallest areas within your home. The German cockroach usually has 2 dark stripes running along their back. German cockroaches will typically be found in your kitchen or bathroom areas where they thrive in warm and humid environments. Female German cockroaches can lay up to 40 eggs over 3-4 times per year and these cockroaches can get out of control very fast!

Oriental Cockroach

These cockroaches can usually be found near home more than inside your home. These roaches can usually found in moist, cool environments typically in cellars, under decks and drains. These roaches have wings however can’t fly as their wings are under developed. They are usually are dark brown or black colour and range between 20-25mm long. American Cockroach (Periplaneta Americana)

The American cockroach is one of the largest species of cockroaches that you will ever come across. These cockroaches can range from up to 30-40mm long with fully developed wings and can fly. These roaches typically like dark and humid hideouts like floors, walls and ceiling cavities. If their climate is too hot, they will normally fly away to another location around your home that suits their climate needs better.

Brown Banded Cockroach (Supella Longipalpa)

The cockroaches are one of the smaller breeds and only measure about 10-15mm in length. These roaches usually have a yellowish stripe across their bodies and may fly during the warmer months. These cockroaches will be found in the warmest parts of your home like the roof cavities, around electrical appliances in your kitchen. These cockroaches are nocturnal which means you will most likely only see them late at night searching for food scraps.

Australian Cockroach (Periplaneta australasiae)

This cockroach isn’t a native species to Australia, despite its name. These cockroaches are found in tropical environments around the world. The Australian cockroaches are a larger type species similar to the American cockroach. These cockroaches will usually have yellow streaks around its head and down the sides of its body. These cockroaches will usually make their way into your home at night after being outside in your surrounding gardens all day. These cockroaches can move extremely fast and can also fly during the warmer months. They also have a tendency to flatten out their body to fit into the smallest cavities around your home.

Smoky Brown Cockroach (Periplaneta fuliginosa)

This is another cockroach that is typically found outside of your home and will make their way into your premises at night. These cockroaches are a smokey brown colour and can grow up to 35mm long. They also have wings and move extremely quickly for their size. These outdoor cockroaches are typically found in dark holes, under tree bark and will typically make their way inside your home to seek food and warmth.
